State Rep. Jodie Laubenberg Announces Support for Ken Paxton in race for Texas House Speaker

(Parker, TX) - HD 89 State Representative Jodie Laubenberg has withdrawn her name from the supporter list of Texas House Speaker Joe Straus and announced her support for State Representative Ken Paxton. Laubenberg, who represents Rockwall and Collin Counties, has worked closely with Rep. Paxton as a member of the Collin County delegation.

Laubenberg said, “Ken and I came to the Texas House together back in 2003 and since that time he has become one of my closest friends. Ken is one of the most admired, respected, and hardworking legislators in Austin. His commitment to conservative principles is unquestionable, and his integrity is indisputable.

Over the past several weeks, I’ve listened to my constituents who have said they want a conservative speaker. My constituents worked hard to elect a strong Republican majority and they have the right to have a voice in selecting our next speaker. They hold the utmost respect for Ken Paxton, and I agree with them wholeheartedly.

Ken has the intelligence, the leadership skills, and the tenacity to get things done. He knows the value of building strong relationships. He treats the legislative process and all involved with the greatest respect. Ken has all of the qualities necessary to make an excellent Speaker
for the Texas House.”

This is great news. I hope that we hear this same sort of news from more of our newly elected conservative representatives very soon. We can influence and help make the difference.

I agree, we do need a conservative speaker, straus is not.

I am not surprised that Jodie has endorsed Ken Paxton. They have worked together closely on a no. of issues and are both solid conservatives.

I am so glad. Ken is a real conservative as proven by his actions over the last several years.

Please support Ken Paxton for Texas Speaker of the House this next session. I would hope that this man would be the one elected by a floor vote in the TX House.

I am glad to see Paxton challenge Straus. I have contacted my rep. Rep. Jim Jackson actually called me back on my home phone and told me he would like someone more consertive on sever issues. Immigration and 2nd amendement.

I appreciate this commitment by an experienced legislator. We desperately need a strong conservative leader in the House. I will do all I can with limited time to help strengthen the true Texas spirit in our government.

Great news indeed! I do not know Mr. Paxton, but I know Jodie and trust her perspective. I wish she was my representative! When I heard her speak last, she said, we can help her put through a more conservative agenda--values & principles by sending her to Austin with more conservative peers...we have done that and I believe this is GOOD for TEXAS! I will find the previous email and I will throw my support from the Sachse Tea Party to Ken Paxton, on Jodie's recommendation.

Based on this and other info I've read about both Strauss and new conservative legislation introduced, I emailed and phoned (on cell phone number on his personal card given to me at polling place!) my rep Van Taylor. He actually personally called me back a few minutes ago - I was astonished! He noted he was one of the few who had never pledged himself to Strauss (I hadn't known this) and said he not only supports the new immigration legislation but wants the strongest measure possible. If it's all an act, it's a damned fine one! FWIW, I am truly pleased to have Taylor as my representative.

I called my new State Rep. Rodney Anderson and left a msg. I don't know how he comes down on this Speaker thing. Does anyone know of a list showing who is supporting who of the State Reps
