One Harry Reid is enough. Texas does not need any Harry Reid tactics.
Throw the Speaker out of the Office.
by Patsy Snyder  2010-11-10 19:35:13
Throw the speaker out! We must restore honor to politics. Thanks for giving us this information. We do not know unless you tell us. Good for you!

dan branch for speaker
by  Joline  2010-11-11 11:31:41
Dan Branch has been a Straus supporter. He cannot be trusted with this important position.
by Deanna  2010-11-10 19:36:22
Good for Rep. Hughes. Employing these kinds of bullying tactics should be proof enough that Joe Straus is NOT who we want as Speaker. Thank you Rep. Hughes for bringing it out into the open, and for standing up against this abuse of position. I hope to see many more of these letters. C'mon conservatives -- DO WHAT WE HAVE HIRED YOU TO DO!
by dmg  2010-11-10 19:38:37
How very disgusting! The team member should be fired that made that call to Rep. Hughes! Sounds too much like Washington, D.C.!!
by James McCullough  2010-11-10 19:48:34
This is what it is all about. Information to the people. We will decide what is best for us. Anyone caught misusing this power needs to be removed. Thank you very much for the information. I will take it heart. Good work.

Tell Bryan Hughes for me he is making the right move.
by Cecile Leatherman  2010-11-10 20:07:49
I pray that Straus will not be speaker. He is too soft on illegal immigraton. Texas wants a legislature that will past anti-amnesty, pro-enforcement, pro E-verify immigration policies. Texas is looking like Mexico. We need a Speaker who believes in the rule of law. I recommend Warren Chisum or anyone who will help take care of the "illegal" problem and believe me, it is a problem.
by Kearney H. Morgan  2010-11-10 20:22:07
This is great. I am tired of people who are lukewarm about Conservatism.
by Sharon Parisi  2010-11-10 20:29:58
Bryan Hughes represents his district with dignity and honor. Speaker Straus must be removed from his position.
by Rita Silknitter  2010-11-10 20:33:20
Representative Hughes, please stay the course and stand your ground. You are in the right and I back and support your decision. Thank you, Rita Silknitter, Ponder TX
by james hairston  2010-11-10 20:36:50
why not Dan Branch as speaker. He has some tenure and has been an important element in our majority.
Tell me ,if I am missing something in my nomination.
by G  2010-11-10 21:42:03
That's fantastik! (his response to the threat). Thanks for the info.
by C.C.  2010-11-10 21:42:43
Hooray for Hughes and throw Strauss out. That kind of tactic is not to be tolerated.
by Jennifer Vidler  2010-11-10 21:52:18
Ifeel strongly that transparency is the only way to fix the obvious corruption in our government. The more educated the citizen, the more accountable our politicians. I hope this election has been an eye opener for any who have forgoten why they are there. Fire Straus, he has forgoten who he represents.
by Carla McCroan  2010-11-10 22:13:29
WAY TO STAND UP FOR TEXAS REPRESENTATIVE HUGHES! WE DON"T NEED PEOPLE IN OFFICE WHO THINK THEIR MONEY IS MORE POWERFUL THEN THE PEOPLE!
by John Melvin Dodd  2010-11-10 22:21:08
Hooray for Bryan Hughes. Unfortunately, this is not the only problem with Straus. In 2009 he stopped all immigration bills, anti-abortion bills, pro second amendment bills, and stopped dead the voter ID legislation. We need Straus like we need Reid and Pelosi. He reached the magic number of 76 needed for election in 2009 with 65 Democrats and 11 RINO Republicans. We now have 99 Republicans in the House. We can do much better than Joe Straus, the pro-abortion, pro-Planned Parenthood candidate.
by Bill Barnes  2010-11-11 00:00:16
Throw the bum out.
by Phillip Kellogg  2010-11-11 00:26:58
This is great news. It is very important that RINO, Joe Strauss be removed as Speaker.
by Allen  2010-11-11 00:51:30
This is the biggest bunch of bull I have ever read. Joe Straus is FAR from being a liberal. It's obvious that Bryan Hughes is lying. He now risks both a criminal and house investigation and could lose his seat (or end up resigning). Straus worked for Regan. He's a conservative. He's very republican.
by Peaches  2010-11-11 03:36:59
I support Rep. Bryan Hughes; if he said that he was called, and published the action in an open letter, then I believe the call was made as Rep. Hughes described it. Good for Rep. Hughes for standing up for his convictions and representing the people of his district with honesty and integrity. When WILL politicians learn that the old ways of manipulation and intimidation simply will no longer be tolerated?? Thanks to you again, Rep. Hughes, and thanks for the information.

Conservatives have been silent too long, and I thank you for this opportunity to comment.

God will bless Texas if we continue to operate His principles. I am hoping that Rep. Hughes' action will encourage his colleagues to stand with him in this matter.
by Tom P  2010-11-11 12:16:07
Yeah Yeah, Rahm Emmanuel worked for Bush and Obama. A Progressive is a Socialist = Marxist = Communist.

The Democrats and Republicans aka Liberals and RINOs are Progressive = Socialist = Marxist = Communist.

The only difference they are fighting over who is going to be the wealthiest and control the poor peasants of world government.

None of them are for the Constitution or OUR sovereignty.
by R McAdoo  2010-11-11 09:32:18
It's time for Texas to have a true Conservative as Speaker of the House, to reflect the results of the recent election.
by  Joline  2010-11-11 11:36:18
This kind of tactic has emerged several times in the Straus for Speaker campaign. It sounds like Chicago-style politics to me...just what we've been working to end.
by Arthur Frank Sturrock  2010-11-12 10:06:15
This has alredy been said but one Pelosi and Reid are enough. We need to get rid of all the Socialists in Texas as well as the U. S. congress and senate.
