There are at least four things every Texan should be doing to celebrate Texas Independence Day (Tuesday, March 2):

1. REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!!

2. If you didn't vote in early voting, VOTE ON TUESDAY!!!

3. Get EVERYONE to the polls!

4. Attend your local Precinct Convention.

1. REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!!

"Legend holds that with the possibility of additional help fading, Colonel Travis drew a line on the ground and asked any man willing to stay and fight to step over — all except one did. As the defenders saw it, the Alamo was the key to the defense of Texas, and they were ready to give their lives rather than surrender their position to General Santa Anna. Among the Alamo's garrison were Jim Bowie, renowned knife fighter, and David Crockett, famed frontiersman and former congressman from Tennessee...

While the facts surrounding the siege of the Alamo continue to be debated, there is no doubt about what the battle has come to symbolize. People worldwide continue to remember the Alamo as a heroic struggle against impossible odds — a place where men made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. For this reason, the Alamo remains hallowed ground and the Shrine of Texas Liberty."

2. If you didn't vote in early voting, VOTE ON TUESDAY!!!

You can find your correct polling location via the following links:

Dallas County : http://www.dalcoelections.org/voters.asp

Collin County : http://public1.co.collin.tx.us/elections/polling_locations/default.aspx

Tarrant County : https://voterlookup.tarrantcounty.com/Default.aspx

Denton County - Republican Party : http://elections.dentoncounty.com/go.asp?Parent=1070&Link=1073

Denton County - Democrat Party : http://elections.dentoncounty.com/go.asp?Parent=1070&Link=1074

3. Get EVERYONE to the polls!

Everyone means EVERYONE.  Friends, family, co-workers, acquaintances, people you pass on the street, etc.  Big turnout numbers will tell the political establishment, in no uncertain terms, that the people have awakened.  If you don't have any friends, or you'd like to make some new ones, you can phone bank from here:

Whatever you have to do, get the voters to the polls!!!

4. Attend your local Precinct Convention.

Your local Precinct Convention will take place at 7:00 pm at your polling place.  If you want to have a say in the inner workings of either the Democrat or Republican party, attending your Precinct Convention is a very good place to start.  You can bring your own proposed resolutions to be voted on.  Resolutions which pass at the Precinct Convention will proceed to your Senate District Convention.  Our friends at the Houston Tea Party Society recently posted a list of proposed resolutions here:

http://houstontps.org/?p=1108

The Democrat site Burnt Orange Report has posted some proposed resolutions here:

PLEASE NOTE : Dallas Tea Party does not necessarily endorse or suggest any of the resolutions at the above links.  It is the responsibility of each voter to make up his or her own mind about any proposed resolution.

I would like everybody to remember the 1994 Newt revolution. Perot%u2019s movement made us understand the size of the debt and Newt%u2019s contract with America made changes in welfare that saved us billions of dollars but in the end our debt still increased. We need something that will change Washington and make the politician beholden too the people. That something is term limits. Not multi year terms but one 6 year term for all elected officials. This way they would not need money to get re-elected. The lobbyists would not be able to influence them. Let%u2019s get all the candidates to sign a contract, that they will support a constitutional amendment will make the President, Senate and House of Representatives 6 years terms. I visited this page (a link from an email I received) in hopes that I would find some discussion about candidates and which of them support and practice Tea Party Ideals. Since the organization doesn't endorse candidates I think such discussion would be an invaluable asset to those of us who just don't have the time to hunt down the facts. I'm going to vote today and will vote for Debra Madina for governor and propably against most incumbants with a leaning toward the libertarian candidates when possible.
