« Dallas Tea Party on the Mar... | Front page | Are You Coming to the Rally... »

We've received some good coverage this week in the Dallas Morning News:

"WASHINGTON – Texas has one of the most conservative delegations in Congress, yet more than half of the state's Republicans in the U.S. House face challengers from the right – most inspired by the anti-tax Tea Party movement.

"We have been encouraging people to get involved and ... to seriously consider running for office" against politicians whose views of government don't match their own, said Dallas attorney Ken Emanuelson, a leader in the local Tea Party movement. "That's a good thing."

In Texas, 11 of 20 Republicans have drawn challengers. In nearly every case, Tea Party connections are apparent..."

Tea Party challengers aren't limited to Federal races:

Republicans have more internal fights to settle than Democrats. Seventeen Republican [State] House incumbents must shake off challenges in the March 2 primary before they can turn their eyes to November.

GOP strategists credit the Tea Party movement for at least six of the challenges: those to Reps. Charlie Geren of Fort Worth, Todd Smith of Euless, Vicki Truitt of Keller, Tommy Merritt of Longview, Delwin Jones of Lubbock, and Hopson of Jacksonville.

I think it is a great idea to run some opposition candidates against sitting Republicans and Democrats to remind them that we are watching and paying attention. However, when they lose, as we both know, they probably will, they must not be those who say that when you vote for the lesser of two evils, you are still voting for evil. They must get behind the winners. As Ronald Reagan said, if they are with me 80% of the time, they are friends. If these folks sit out the fight against the liberals, the liberals will win and that will be a catastrophe.

WAY TO GO !!!! You forgot to add the Keller Boiling Point Group in Tarrant County!!

until the republican party returns to the platform for conservatives it is a bigger mistake to give them support at all (W.I.N.N.E.R.S.) WILLINESS, INTIATIVE, NEVER QUIT, NEVER FAIL, ENTHUSIASM, RELIABILITY, SUPPORT TEXANS NVER SURRENDER!

These are great news!!!

For those of us that have screamed and rallied and have opposed this take over of our liberties. But we must continue the fight. The left will only get nastier and back room deals will get uglier. Just wait, they are desperate and we haven't seen their worse yet!

We must persevere!

I am running for a Precint Chair in #130, so I went to the ballot draw for the Collin County GOP. There is a lot of excitement for all the interest in running for office, and I think there is some nervousness as well. Some of the status quo folks are feeling the changes. There is some concern about whether the tea party movement will help or hurt the GOP. Overall the feel I got was very positive for the tea parties, especially for their role in getting conservatives off the couch and into races.

I went to the 9-12 Tea Party Rally in D.C. and have been encouraged ever since that day! The silent majority are most assuredly no longer silent (from every state in the nation) and thank God conservatives are now willing to invest in the political process in order to make a difference. I extend my personal "thank you" to each one of them...very much appreciating all the time and money they will devote to their campaigns in order to allow us the privilege of voting for conservatives!

We should push every primary as far to the right as possible. Shake every incumbent up to make them understand the direction their party needs to move. But, in the general elections we need to vote for the candidate of the party most willing to move in our direction. General elections might call for compromise because they seat the legislators. But, the primaries determine the platforms.

Yee Haw! Ride 'em Cowboys! Bucking Broncos comin' up! Hang on through the Primary and you'll have 'em roped!
by James Chenoweth  2010-01-08 11:50:21
But I did not see a candidate against Chet Edwards, or Eddie Bernice Johnson. Do we have a candidate against them?
by Mary B  2010-01-08 13:08:59
There are several Republican candidates running against E.B.in the March primaries. Go to Dallas County GOP website for more information.

This is good news. It helps keep the momentum, sometimes it gets pretty depressing, and scary.

Good work! I'm delighted to see so many conservatives running for office in 2010. Let's shake up the Republican establishment!
by Bemus Glenn Jackson  2010-01-08 18:35:38
conservatives like John McCain with the experience of being a father, AF
pilot, Hero, member of congress, (that is 5)
or Sara Palin, Mother, degree in journalism, reporter, business owner, fisherman, fisher of women, PTA Board, city elected official, governor of a State, Commander of Chief of a State Army, built a pipeline the feds and private interest could not do & cheaper.
A candidate shall be someone that can read the constitution, a worker that has earned and paid their own way without being. subsidized and has one promise, "to uphold their Oath Of Office to enforce, uphold and preserve the Constitution of the Republic of the United States of America---- "WHICH NO LONGER EXIST" We the people have to take to away from the elected politicians in office.
We can not wait for the next election, we have to do it at the State level by removing them from office because they violated their Oath of Office and are in conflict with the Constitutional LAWS.
by Bemus Glenn Jackson   2010-01-08 19:15:31
Run for office, vote for yourself and uphold your Oath of Office by reading and enforcing the City Ordinances, County Court Orders and State Constitutions. This is what I did in 1972 and a 13 year old in Gilmer, TX did the same 1974. Though under age the people let him serve and he is one of the best mayors to serve a city,

With all of our educated experts that express what they feel and their co-called opinions without any actual work experience; only reading books of the opinions of other educated IGGITs (ask me to define), how is there no action being taken to uphold & enforce the Constitution. Where are the Lawyers takinbg a Oath to enforce our Laws?? Why do we have so many attorneys involved in government paid by and serving special interest circumvening our Laws???
Because we the people do not read the Constitution to know what the true law is. We do not know our own guaranteed freedoms, liberties and rights are under the law.
We sit around talking and letting someone else run for office, that we do not even know; electing them to sit on their thumbs letting Socialism destroy our Country without firing a shot; like Kruchef (SP) promised.
We are guaranteed the right to vote, but everyone does not have the knowledge to know the candidate they vote for. The one lever vote for the party should

We need to establish who are the most CONSERVATIVE and let the Texas voters know!!!!!
by Mickey  2010-01-08 21:48:48
I don't think waiting until the nov. election can stop or reverse the major changes being enacted by the current congress. We need to stop this NOW.
We already know they're not going to listen to our collective voices, calls or faxes. Therefore, we need to be more proactive. Perhaps we should impose something like our government does to rouge nations i.e. sanctions. We could organize all the tea party members, 9-12er's ( I went to DC)and other like minded people to demand congress stop and/or repeal these new laws or we'll impose some form of sanction'(s). The only thing that comes to mind that they care about is tax dollars. We could start with, say a work stoppage, until they listen to we the people, everyone including childern could stay home and away from all forms of commerce one day a month, perhaps the first week day of each month, then if after a couple of months congress still does not bend to the will of the people we could increase the work stoppage from one to two days

wake up america forget the present dems an rebs. elect completely new reps how by giving the average citizen the ability to run this type of elected offical will truly represent our concerns joe florio florida crystal river
by  adrsi  2010-01-15 10:01:11
Well we are now seeing counterfiet Tea Parties, claiming they have the endorsement of the national Tea party, it is happening in Sulphur springs with John Cooper, he has formed his own tea party and has endorsed himself.
by  grayelliott  2010-01-20 09:56:42
Now we need to purge all the communists (AKA Progressives) from the conservative party like McCain, Huckabee, Bush, etc., otherwise they will simply carry on this coup!

by Troy Camplin  2010-03-15 05:22:20
If you're serious about taking on incumbants -- and both main parties are incumbant, even if they don't have anyone in office in any given district -- then everyone here needs to vote Libertarian. I don't deny self-interest here. I am running as the Libertarian candidate against Republican Angie Chen Button, and I want everyone's vote who lives in our district (State Rep district 112). I am the GOP and DNC opposition candidate.
